Beltane Ceremony with the River of Life

Bealtaine is a potent portal where the sacred masculine energy of doing begins to light up, and join into the sacred feminine energy of being. This ceremony is a wonderful way for you to reflect on how things have been, and begin to envision how you would like them to become.

Offerings as Sacred Reciprocity

People are often curious about why I always ask them to bring "offerings" to circles or sessions.  This is a really great question! In fact all questions are good because although it is important to have an open heart and be present in a ceremony or practice, it is equally as important to know why we are doing something and where it comes from.

The Fire and Water of Beltaine

Today is May Day, or the Celtic Fire festival of Beltaine, known in Ireland as Bealtaine or in Scotland as Bealtuinn. It is thought that this celebration was named after the old Celtic sun god, Belenos, or Bel, which means shining, while "tine" translates as fire.

Resurrecting the Sacred Masculine

Computer admin work - ugh! It's a never-ending process, just like laundry, and I almost always begrudge and avoid it. I'd rather be at the loom or in the woods.

Over the last few years however, I have held a gentle intention to bring structure to my life, to handcraft my life with two hands, and in the process to heal and grow my masculine - that force within me who creates order and beauty in my outer world by following the direction of my wild feminine within. This call to heal my inner masculine came after decades of resurrecting my inner feminine.

3 Simple Ways to Bring the Magical to the Practical

I'm a true believer in the balance of the magical and the practical! It was the driving force behind the tagline and vision for my practice which arose almost 15 years ago... "A Practical Path to a Sacred Life." In many cultures around the world the spiritual is very much a part of day to day living, but it's something I see that we are really missing in our day to day lives and which I believe contributes to this cultural spiritual malady of feeling disconnected. So, I thought I'd share a few of the simple ways I bring the magical into my day to day practical life. These small and simple ways have been in my life for many years and are something I encourage in the students I support. They remind us that we are not "running the show" all by ourselves, and allow our hearts to remain open.

5 Reminders for Post-Election Soul Care

This morning I awoke and wondered about how I could move myself and my energy out of the heaviness of disappointment. I thought about how I thought I knew what was "right" for the people of the US, all of us, but as a wise teacher once told me, "When we think we know, we say no to all that we don't know!" The truth of the matter is that I don't know.

Harvest Moon & Lunar Eclipse

Tonight is the harvest moon and lunar eclipse and a wonderful time to move energies in your Life. A time for the work of sifting and sorting, pruning the deadwood, cutting energetic ties that don't serve your highest good, and a time to celebrate the absolute abundance Life has gifted to us. Just like the Good God Daghda's cauldron that is never empty, tonight is a perfect opportunity to open yourself to prosperity.

Imbolc Blessings

Here we are at the Celtic fire festival of new life and pregnancy ~ Imbolc! Unlike the Airts or four timeless winds whose ancient guiding energies prevail for a whole season, these cross-quarter festivals between the solstices and equinoxes are very powerful doorways, open for about 3-4 days.

BrighidsMilkImbolc2011They provide an opportunity to do some potent magic depending on the intention of the festival.

For the ancestors, Imbolc (or Oimolc, Imbolg) sometimes translated as "first milk" or "in the belly," was the time when the ewes were pregnant, bringing hope after the long winter and opening the door to the renewing energies of Spring.

Remember Me Thursday for our Orphaned Animals

Today is Remember Me Thursday, a special day to honour the millions of orphaned pets needing a forever home...

heart candleHave you ever lit a candle in remembrance of someone special to you? I light candles in remembrance of people and pets that have died. They were important to me when they were alive and they continue to live in the eternal flame of my heart. It may sound corny but in truth, the lighting of the candle allows me to feel closer to them, and the twinge of pain in missing them, reminds me of the wonderful relationships we had. Their physical presence is complete but the memory of their lives on, and a new relationship is present in the moment.

Collectively, the lighting of a candle by many brings people together for a common cause. We see it in social media and television in vigils, quiet protests, in ceremonies, in churches. Annually, on this day each year, (the third Thursday of September) worldwide, within 138 countries and counting, people light candles, whether literal or virtual, honouring the millions of orphaned pets needing a forever home. This ceremony's purpose is to draw attention to those animals which are euthanized. So I extend an invitation to check out the 'Remember Me Thursday' website on how you can get involved in your own way.

The Power of Waiting

This has been a particularly hot and parched summer for us here in BC, Canada and living on the Pacific Northwest coast in the only temperate rainforest in North America, it has been a cause for alarm for many and many wildfires have been burning. Many of us who have large spiritual community networks have been coming together either in person or virtually through social media. Here's a recent post from social media...
